How licensing works on MarketSongs

Every listing is sold through one or more license packages. The package you choose decides what you can do with the work and which files you receive.

How licensing works

When a creator lists a song, lyrics, beat or package, they attach one or more license packages. Each package defines a price, the rights granted, and exactly which files are delivered after purchase.

Basic and Commercial licenses are non-exclusive unless the listing explicitly states otherwise — the creator can keep selling the same work to other buyers.

Basic License

A non-exclusive license for personal or limited use. Typically includes the full MP3 and lyrics. Good for demos, drafts and small projects.

Commercial License

A non-exclusive license for commercial use. May include WAV, stems or vocals depending on the package. The work can still be licensed to others.

Exclusive License

An exclusive license removes or locks the listing after purchase, so no one else can buy it. You become the sole licensee under the agreed terms.

Full Rights Transfer

A separate, stronger agreement where the creator transfers ownership rights. It requires a dedicated contract and is only available when the creator enables it.

What files are included

You receive only the files included in the license package you purchased. If a package does not include WAV, stems, vocals or video, those files stay locked even after purchase.

The song detail and checkout pages show an "Included / Not included" breakdown so you know exactly what you are buying before you pay.

What happens after purchase

After a successful purchase your license is activated immediately. A contract PDF is generated from an immutable snapshot of the listing and terms at the moment of sale, and your downloads unlock for the included files.

Contracts and downloads

Your contract and downloads live in your library. You can re-download the contract PDF and any included files at any time, and verify the listing's MarketSongs Proof certificate where available.

Important: buyers are responsible for using each work within the scope of the purchased license. The final contract PDF issued at purchase governs your rights and overrides any general marketing copy on this page.
